Coming To Terms With The Past: Tarot Reading
This week's guidance is from The Universe. The Advice Column.
Some housekeeping: I am working on accessibility of these videos and uploading with captions as soon as possible. That’s a priority. As always, collective readings are a channeling of many, many people’s energy. It won’t resonate completely for everyone, and won’t present itself exactly the same in everyone’s life. Take what resonates, leave the rest!
The themes that continued to come up in my meditation for this reading were reconciliation, forgiveness, and patterns. With Mercury retrograde coming to a close, it makes sense that cycles of the past are coming to an emotional apex and strengthening our resilience in the face of some serious shadow work.
In the upcoming week, our energy is represented by the King of Cups, 6 of Cups, The Hermit, and The Wheel of Fortune. The reading this week is very emotional with so many “cups,” which is right on brand for Cancer season. We stand in a position of emotional authority and compassion, and we’re guided by our hearts instead of our heads. We are sending a message to the Universe that we are prepared and willing to have our needs met through inner guidance and honoring our emotions.
It feels like there’s a lot of nostalgia/dwelling on what could have/should have been with someone from the past. This could be a mother, father, sibling, friend, or partner, but the energy has resurfaced so you have a chance to witness how much your perspective and ability to hold space and grace for yourself and others is expanding your capacity to love. For example, if you grew up with parents who were not emotionally available or didn’t express love in the language you needed, you may have harbored resentment in insidious ways that not only kept your relationship stagnant, but has kept you in the cycle of tolerating the same in other relationships. Now, you trust yourself and are unwilling to be dragged into drama or emotional manipulation.
This week, we have a chance to flex the muscle of emotional maturity and strong discernment. This could manifest physically - like an ex, friend, or estranged parent reaching out to reconcile differences without re-entering cycles that no longer serve us - but it feels like this is an internal shift which we are choosing by self-reflection in order to receive better for ourselves. You may be called to forgive someone and this is a confirmation from Spirit there is opportunity for success there.
Reconciliation doesn’t have to be forgiveness if it is not safe for you; reconciliation can look like mourning what you didn’t have and letting go of any responsibility that you needed to be a different person to have your emotions held in tenderness. Reconciliation can look like focusing on opportunities for growth from the past without limitations standing in the way of accessing the good in a connection. Ideally, reconciliation will look like holding your inner child and promising to show up in the future. You may consider doing a cord cutting ritual or meditation to grieve whatever has made you feel guarded. Those experiences have provided a lantern for our current journey through the deepest parts of ourselves which still yearn to be known.
Be on the lookout for “mirroring.” The narratives we tell ourselves about our relationships which keep us in a never-ending story of hurt and wondering why we weren’t loved, provided for, or protected the way we deserve create such emotional friction because we’re looking straight at the parts of ourselves we have been programmed to be ashamed of. It feels like we’re ditching the shame and owning those emotions in order to show up in compassion for ourselves and whatever situations we are asked to face right now.
The takeaway here is that ruminating only gets you so far, and sometimes you have to feel your way to a solution. You are safe to let your emotions guide you. Harboring resentment, guarding our heart space, and taking responsibility for other people’s shadow work and emotional development will have us in a chokehold if we let it. When you find yourself reacting to triggers or something reminiscent of old stuff; take a beat, take a breath, and return back to yourself to decide how you would like to respond instead. Your inner guidance knows how to move forward in grace and authenticity.
